The Jury of the European Architecture Design Award

The EADA jury is composed of experienced architects, designers, academics, and industry professionals from around the world. All entries are evaluated independently, with jury members assessing each project against a consistent set of criteria covering design excellence, innovation, functionality, and impact. The jury panel is continuously evolving, bringing together new perspectives and expertise with each edition of the award.

Evaluation

Judging Criteria

Judging criteria are continuously adapted to reflect new technical, social, and ecological requirements. They serve as an orientation framework, complemented by each juror's expertise and perspective. All projects are assessed randomly and anonymously to ensure a fair evaluation.

Aesthetics

Form, shape, colour, texture, finishing, and the materials used — the overall visual and sensory quality of the architectural work.

Innovation

Does the project introduce something new to architecture, or meaningfully advance or improve upon an existing typology or approach?

Practicality & Functionality

Ease of use, safety, maintenance, and the degree to which the project successfully fulfils its intended programme and purpose.

Ergonomics

How the space interacts with its occupants — spatial optimisation, human scale, comfort, and the quality of the user experience.

Durability

The quality and longevity of the design — how well the architecture is built to last, age gracefully, and maintain its integrity over time.

Impact

The benefit delivered to the client and to society — how the project improves lives, communities, or the broader built environment.

Integration

How thoughtfully the project is embedded within its local environment — responding to context, landscape, culture, and surroundings.

Ecological Compatibility

The potential environmental and ecological impact of the project — from material sourcing and energy use to long-term sustainability.

Emotional Quotient

Beyond fulfilling its practical purpose, does the building create a sense of enjoyment, meaning, and emotional resonance for those who experience it?
